In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Viola’s name to St. The Lundquist family would like to extend our gratitude to all the staff at the Merimac Nursing Home in Stoughton, specifically those in the Rachel Circle for their attentiveness and loving care. The family will greet friends from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Sunday, August 12 at the Langford-Baskin Funeral Home in Rotterdam, and again at church on Monday from 10:00 am until the time of service. Burial will follow at West Side Cemetery in Rotterdam. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 3245 Knickerbocker Rd., Rotterdam, with the Rev. Funeral services will be held on Monday, Augat 11:00 am at St. Viola will be remembered as a bright, shining light in the various communities and churches she served. Vi was preceded in death by her parents, brother Hal, and sister, Andreen. Left to honor Vi and remember her love are Vi’s four children, Sharleen (Don) Rasmussen, Jane (Rick) Milhaus, Stephen (Carol) Lundquist, and Dave Lundquist five grandchildren Court (Nancy)Rasmussen, Marcus (Eileen)Rasmussen, Jessica (Katherine Cross) Milhaus, Christina Lundquist, and James Milhaus three great-grandchildren: Eamon, Isadora, and Nathaniel a sister, Barb (Bobby) Van Dew and many nieces and nephews. Following Bruce’s ordination into the ministry, the young couple served a number of congregations during their life together: first in Wayne, NJ then Milwaukee, WI then Green Valley, NY. Viola and Bruce married on Septemin Troy.

It was Viola’s dimples and her talent at the piano that attracted Bruce Lundquist to her in 1942 at Kasimir Elementary School.

Following her training, she began her career teaching elementary students in Valley Forge, PA. After graduating from high school, she attended the Union Teacher’s College in Rochester. She continued playing the piano for 85 years. By the age of five, Vi started playing the piano and by the age of 15 she was giving lessons from the parlor of the farmhouse. She was born on a farm near Schenectady to Albert and Hannah (Sullivan) Bergdorf and was the youngest of four children. From her birth in Troy, on to her death on Monday she nourished people around her with love, faith, and music. Lundquist, age 89, died on Monday, Augin the Rachel Circle, a caring and loving community at the Merimac Nursing Home in Rotterdam.
